I'm really just curious. I know some black girls who are like me that listen to rock but I've never known another black girl that liked metal (heavy metal like Viking metal or Black metal) or for that matter, rocker guys. (not indie guys but the long hair past the shoulder, boots, chains, head bangers) Or even Punk. Not MCR. I mean the Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, etc.
I consider myself openminded to all types of music and people but it seems black girls like me are pretty few and far between.
And please, I also don't mean emo kids either. I've seem too many blemo's who try way to hard and listen to craptastic music.
So, has anyone known, seen, or are themselves black girls into rock?
And does anyone else think it's amusing when peolple are surprised, like its an anomaly?
Monti: Trust me I research the bands that I like. Unless they are NSBM, they're okay to listen to. And metal music is so astounding. I mean, there is real talent there. Especially symphonic metal. And I know of some metal bands that have blacks in them.

Im into mainstream rock, but im not into that heavy metal sh*t. I just can't get into the hardcore stuff, but i do LOVE the tatted up hardcore rocker guys thought.

I listen to ALL genres of music.

I am not a black girl, but I am a black guy. I love hard rock, but I hate metal, there is a BIG difference. I like bands like: disturbed, three days grace, chevelle, flyleaf etc. Why do you like metal? You do realize that a lot of metal is Satanic right? Well maybe you are into that sort of thing, personally growling on a track, like some wild beast isn't appealing.

So, any black girls into rock music? Like Metal/Punk/Indie?

yeah, I listen to rock and some people are like woah.But, the two main types of music I listen to is Rap & Rock.And I am addicted to rocker dudes with the tatoos.

I love rock..but more of the mainstream things. Think My Chemical Romace, Boys Like Girls, Fall Out Boy, etc. But I generally listen to all genres.

Oh hell yeah. I'm not much into metal, but some of my faves are System of a Down, Rage Against The Machine, Sevendust, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand, Queens of the Stone Age, KoRn, and even The Cure and The Eagles (Old School Rock rocks! LOL). I catch a lot of flack from people who seem to think I "want to be white" (as if) - but they fail to realize how many of the artists in my rock collection are actually BLACK. Point is, good music is good music. I listen to almost every genre under the sun - as long as it touches my "happy place", ya dig?

My *online* friends like myself and I have a theory that we're not actually that few - somehow we just got geographically spread out really far... Guess too high a concentration in one area would be dangerous! :-)
