I want to have fun with my shoulder-length hair, but I'm a total idiot when it comes to using hair gels and spray and that sort of stuff. Can anyone out there help me unleash my inner rock star with some detailed instructions? I'm only worried about the style, not the colors or anything, since I know how to dye my hair pretty well by now.

Anything will help, even if it's stuff that seems obvious... Thank you very much!

Also: I wear glasses and can't stand contacts, so my hair kind of needs to be out of my eyes, but I'm willing to try anything out if you make it easy enough for me to understand. ^^;

get some bettie page or vampira bangs and ur set cause all u gotta do is blow dry your bangs with a round brush and straighten then rest

you really have to experiment, but look at pics of hairstyles you like with the same kind of hair texture as yours. You might have to try out some styling products till you find one that works. Dye the front of your hair bright (insert fave color here). get a cut that's versatile that can be worn several different ways

If you want to have cool looks, stand in front of the mirror and take small strands of hair and cut it about 6 inches long. Do the same with all your hair, except the hair close to your face. Hold it stretched and cut it at the level of your eyebrows so it won't get in front of your eyes. It's so much fun to cut your own hair. To get the rock looks your hair must not be even anywhere. So, don't worry about small imperfections. It will be perfect. Also to manage it put a drop of gel in your fingers, and some water and spread it throughout. Then you can style your hair with your fingers, It's like creating art. So much fun!

I think a good cut would be the best place to start. Looking at pictures and finding a style you like is the best idea. You don't need to cut much just get ends trimmed and blunt cut / texturized. Have a few long layers put in as well. When you want to feel a bit punky try putting a good quality gel or mousse in your wet hair about a flat palmful should be right then blow drying your hair with a round brush but curl the ends of your hair up dramatically. Once hair is dry you may want to actually use a larger barrel curling iron to turn the ends of your hair up a bit more. Spray back of your hair with a good finishing spray. Quickly- while spray is still wet, frun your finger from bottum of your head out (turn your head upside down) This adds a bit of volume and kind of "chunks up" the hair. As to bangs- if you have them, try blowing them straight and then use a flat iron and straighten them to the side. A crimping iron would make your nags look cute but punky too. Good luck!
