I am starting to notice that a lot of the goth/punk girls that I see are actually really cute and/or pretty. Because of this, I don't get why they want to cover themselves up with makeup and dark clothing. I don't understand. Is it just a fashion preference? Do they not realize that they are pretty? Can anybody shed some light on my predicament?

Okay, so I'm certainly not goth, but the reason why they wear dark makeup and clothes is because that's the whole 'gothic' style. And without it, they wouldn't be considered well, goth. So it's basically just a style preference.

My big sister likes the emo look and she is emo but not with all the cutting crap ... she promised me, shes 15 btw she says it is just becasu ethey like the way they look and they dont care what everyone else thinks.

It's a fashion preference. And who says a goth or punk female can't be pretty or cute with the dark makeup and clothes? I'm a goth female myself, but I'm bisexual and I actually go for that look on girls. I'm much more attracted to goth females than I am to some regular looking girl. Actually stereotypical female styles are a turn off to me. I'm a college student and what the sorority girls wear is absolutely not attractive to me at all, but if I were to see a well put together goth chick, I'd be attracted. What it comes down to is that it's a matter of personal taste.

1. to them that is pretty. that their oppinion and there entitled to it. 2. they just like what they like i guess. it's like asking some one who where neon yellow all the time why the were it. they just like it.
