I really want to have an emo hairstyle. (As in the longest layer) Anything from chin length to long (not past the chest).

Right now, my hair is a little past the chest, dark, dark brown and I have side-swept bangs. Three layers in my hair.

I think you have the cut for it, but its all in the teasing. Take the layer of hair that is underneath the top part, and tease it. Then hairspray. Comb it down juuusttt a little. Once your done, take the top layer and comb both layers gently. You will get some pretty good volume. Maybe also try some shorter layers around the top, to make them stand out more.

Sweep them to the side, clip them in
Tease your hair.
Get highlights.
